2004 JoAnn Falletta International Guitar Competition
From the beginning, the biennial competition has attracted top classical guitarists from around the world and is considered the premier competition of its kind. In addition to the competition, the semi-finalists will perform at “Guitar Days”, a unique element of the event that finds competitors invited into the community to perform at various venues and functions.
Schadt String Competition
The Schadt String Competition is the annual national solo string competition of the Allentown Symphony Orchestra. Begun in 1997 following a bequest to the Allentown Symphony Association from Edwin H. and Leigh W. Schadt, the competition alternates annually between violin, cello and classical guitar. First Prize includes a cash award and a solo concerto engagement with the Allentown Symphony Orchestra during the season following each competition.
